Pentwean Valley
Pentewan was a very busy harbour that was built for the shipment of China Clay but now the dock basin is separated from the sea by the beach and is filled with freshwater yet the industrial past can be seen all around the small village. Heading inland Pentewan has a 4km trail of woodland and river walks. This follows the path of an old narrow gauge railway to London Apprentice. The railway was built in the 19th century to carry the tin and China Clay for export but is now no longer in use.
The beach is ideal for family holidays as its shallow waters are very safe for swimmers. You will also find a sailing and scuba diving club along the beach. There is also a cycle hire shop so you can cycle all the scenic routes along the coast. Being only a mile or so from Cestria b and b Pentewan offers a great spot for swimming, cycling or even just lazing on the beach.
